The MD EXIT STRATEGY was born on October 22, 2018, after a particularly arduous day seeing patients. I have worked as a physician on the front-lines of health care since 2001. I know that physicians occupy a special place in Canadian society and that we have a unique set of skills that can be valuable outside of the present health-care framework. I decided to make it my mission, in this era of low morale and high physician burnout, to assist my peers and colleagues with finding their smiles once again. Through the MDXS platform, I wish to guide my colleague on a journey of self-discovery to a place where being a physician is once again a satisfying and rewarding career choice. Whether this means a total exit from clinical practice, exploring side-gigs for extra income, seeking a break from the daily grind in the trenches, or simply looking for strategies at achieving financial independence in an era of increasingly diminishing incomes, it has become my goal to demonstrate that we physicians have a choice at how we choose to live and work.
